“The
average food item on a U.S. grocery shelf has traveled farther than
most families go on their annual vacations.”
Barbara

food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of
medicine or the slowest form of poison."
Ann

If
you have a connection with the farm, if you’ve actually walked on the
soil of the farm, it nourishes your soul.

When
it becomes a revolutionary act to eat real food, we are in trouble.
Mark

"Cultivators
of the earth are the most valuable citizens. They are the most
vigorous, the most independent, the most virtuous, and they are tied to
their country and wedded to it's liberty and interests by the most
lasting bands."

There is a revolution going on right now in America with how food is
grown, purchased, and eaten. Consumers are becoming more conscious that
they "vote with their fork" three times a day for the food system they
want.
Many are choosing a food system that is locally based and sustainable,
less dependent on factory farms and the chemicals they use to grow,
process, and transport food to market. Moving away from the highly
processed foods that contribute to our growing epidemic of obesity and
diabetes in our society. Taking a stand on the issues of land
stewardship and economic justice for farm families in their area.
These issues cry out to be explored from a faith based perspective. We
are all linked together by food, no matter where we live on this earth.
The relationship between food and spirituality is strong and evident in
many religious teachings. No matter what faith or denomination.
A partnership with Chimney Creek Farm and our CSA program gives your
congregation the opportunity to eat local naturally grown food and to
explore contemporary food issues within the context of faith values.
It's a powerful way for them to build community, put their faith into
action, and help bring about a positive change in the world today.
So, how can you get involved? Churches large and small can participate
and make a real difference. We look forward to hearing from you and
discussing options that make sense for you.
